Morning updates

The United States carried out strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, while Iran responded with ballistic missile launches. Jordan claimed it shot down four Iranian missiles and six drones in the past 24 hours. Reports emerged of explosions near the headquarters of the US Naval Base in Bahrain (Fifth Fleet). Iran claimed that the US strikes also targeted the Shalamcheh border crossing adjacent to Iraq, where several pilgrims were killed. Iraq’s Prime Minister departed for Tehran on an official visit.

 

Afternoon updates:  

The United States decided to send additional troops, medical personnel and weapons to the Middle East. Two Chinese oil tankers from Saudi Arabia passed through Bab al-Mandab after receiving permission from the Houthis. Reports of smoke rising came in after explosions on the Kuwait-Iraq border. A Russian Su-57 fighter jet crashed near Moscow during a training flight, but the pilot remained safe. Iraq’s Prime Minister made his first official visit to Iran since taking office. Turkey will begin training Eurofighter Typhoon pilots in the UK starting in August.

 

Evening updates: 

At around 4:30 PM, the United States struck the city of Konarak in Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan Province, but according to provincial officials there were no reports of any damage. The US CIA is investigating the possibility of whether Russia provided any kind of assistance to Iran during the recent strikes, however this claim has not been independently verified. One Israeli soldier was injured in a knife attack at a checkpoint in Jenin, while the attacker was killed.
