According to an NBC News report, the US has run so low on interceptor missiles that the US military is having to decide which targets to intercept and which to ignore among Iranian ballistic missiles and drones.
The report states that at the end of last week, Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Kane warned President Trump that interceptor missile stockpiles in the Middle East had dropped to a dangerously low level. Following this, CNN reported that Trump ordered a temporary halt to operations against Iran.
The report further said that Iran’s missile stockpile surprised US military planners, because they had estimated that Iran would lose its ability to launch missiles within a few weeks or months. However, Iran still has a large number of missiles and drones, and with the help of targeting information provided by allies and satellite data, their effectiveness has increased even more than before.
