Iran’s missile attack on US targets

Reports emerged of ballistic missiles being fired from the Iranian city of Khomein.

According to reports, these missiles were heading toward US bases in Jordan.

US and Jordanian air defense systems intercepted multiple Iranian ballistic missiles in the air.

According to US officials, Iran fired at least 4 ballistic missiles to target a US base in Jordan.

 According to US Central Command (CENTCOM), the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched multiple ballistic missiles to target US forces in the Middle East, but all missiles were successfully intercepted. US forces will remain on alert.

Explosions and military activity in Iraq

Sounds of explosions were heard in the city of Erbil in Iraqi Kurdistan, which were possibly described as sonic booms from fighter jets.

– The Patriot defense system was activated in Erbil, and there were also reports of a Shahed-136 drone attack.

Smoke was seen rising after explosions in Basra Governorate.

There were continuous explosions at a weapons depot run by the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) in Al-Deir, Basra.

One Iraqi civilian was confirmed killed in these explosions, while sources linked to the PMF blamed the attacks on airstrikes.

Reports of explosions also came from Al-Suwaira area in Wasit Governorate, while fighter jet activity was seen in Babil and other areas.

 

US and Saudi Arabia airstrikes in Iraq

 

According to US Central Command, the United States and Saudi Arabia carried out joint airstrikes against Iran-backed armed groups in eastern Iraq.

The purpose of the strikes was to target the bases of those groups that were blamed for drone attacks on US and Saudi installations.

According to CENTCOM, weapons and logistics centers were targeted in response to more than 30 drone attacks carried out under IRGC direction over the past 72 hours.

Key locations of the strikes:

Nineveh Governorate (including Bartella near Mosul)

Kirkuk Governorate

Diyala (Camp Ashraf)

Salah al-Din (Amirli)

Areas near Karbala

According to the Saudi Ministry of Defense, the operation was carried out with US cooperation, with the aim of targeting militias involved in attacks on Saudi oil facilities. Saudi Arabia said it does not want escalation but will respond to any attack.

PMF response

Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) claimed that several of its centers were targeted in the US and Saudi Arabia attacks.

According to the PMF, some personnel were killed and injured and multiple buildings were damaged.

The group called the attacks a violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and announced that more details would be released.

According to sources linked to the PMF, seven personnel were killed in the Bartella attack.

Iran, the Gulf and other fronts

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Navy claimed that it targeted and stopped three oil tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

Yemen’s Houthi group Ansarallah claimed that it shot down a Qarail spy drone used by Saudi Arabia in Saada Governorate in northwestern Yemen.

Tensions in the region have increased further. Following Iran’s missile attacks, US-Saudi airstrikes against Iran-backed groups in Iraq, and naval activity in the Strait of Hormuz, military tension in the Middle East is seen to be rising.
