Starmer’s resignation clears the path for Andy Burnham to become Britain’s new Prime Minister

LONDON, July 20

Andy Burnham was installed as Britain’s new prime minister on Monday, becoming the country’s seventh leader in a decade as he promised to “rewire” the nation and sharpen its focus on pressing domestic challenges such as the cost-of-living crisis and faltering public services.

His predecessor, outgoing Prime Minister Keir Starmer, delivered a graceful farewell speech outside 10 Downing Street, telling well-wishers that “my work is done” and that he was leaving with a smile.
