According to a report by Axios, Israel shared intelligence with the United States during President Donald Trump’s visit to Turkey, alleging that a senior Iranian official had suggested Iran should attempt to assassinate Donald Trump in Ankara. The reported intelligence prompted the U.S. Secret Service to strengthen security measures, including the use of an older Air Force One aircraft instead of a newer presidential plane as a precaution.
U.S. officials told Axios that the intelligence was based on a single unverified source and was viewed more as an expression of intent or a suggestion than evidence of a credible, operational assassination plot. Following an investigation, Turkish security agencies said they found no evidence of a specific Iranian plan to assassinate President Trump during his visit to Ankara.
This development comes amid heightened tensions between the United States, Iran, and Israel, although officials emphasized that the alleged threat was not supported by verified intelligence or confirmed operational planning.
